Anna Hansen, Director of Community Building for Oshara Village, gives Diane Marron her welcome package of Compact Florescent bulbs for her new townhouse with the Oshara Team.
On Sunday, October 27, 2007 the first resident moved into Oshara Village, a new sustainable community north of the Santa Fe Community College. The first two homes to be occupied in Oshara Village are townhomes designed and built by respected Santa Fe architect Lorn Tryk. Oshara Townhomes, LLC was formed by Mr. Tryk and his partner Mr. Sid Singer to create townhouses and luxury patio homes in Oshara Village that are state of the art in energy efficiency and green design.
The first resident to move into Oshara Village is a long-time Santa Fean Diane Marron. She is the first of nine families who will move into Oshara Village over the next 90 days. Diane states that she "has been looking for a home for four years". "I think Oshara will draw forward thinking people and is maturing into a very charming village". "I love being next to the Community College, they have the best facilities in town". And in consideration of the environmental features in Oshara she said "We are in crisis in water and energy and my home in Oshara is very efficient in these areas" The second resident to move into Oshara is a respected public school teacher.
The next family scheduled to move in is having a custom Patio Home built by local craftsman Charles Schubert to fulfill a life long dream of having a small bookstore in their home. Working from home is encouraged in Oshara Village.
At this time most roads in Oshara Village are paved, the Plaza is complete and there are around 35 homes finished or under construction. From now until January 2008 an exhibit of outdoor sculpture can be seen on the Oshara Plaza.
